Question about brownish skin around the eyes

Each, I was just checking this on my phone; I totally forgot how to link pictures through shutterbox...one more reason for me to become a premier member. Let me see what I can figure out.

Question about brownish skin around the eyes

Hi everyone; it's been a while since I posted. And if I placed this in the wrong forum, mods, please let me know and I can move it to the correct one. I have a blue merle (almost cryptic) that just turned 10 months. The two of us had a nice time at his Beginner Puppy competition, but I haven't...

    Feeding puppy raw....

I'm reading all of your dogs' likes and dislikes, including mine...yet given half a chance (and with Kel, one second of not paying attention), mine will raid the kitty litter box like it's a snack bar. Yet these guys turn their noses up to rabbit and venison and bison...oy

    Feeding puppy raw....

All three of my dogs are on straight RMB raw, Kel started at 7.5 weeks when we brought him home. I don't use commercial raw simply because for some reason, my dogs don't like it. Maybe because a lot of the commercial raw that I find in pet stores also contain vegetables and my guys don't care...

For those with a sable merle....

Kel looks like a tricolor but has blue merling...so to those that at least know what a tricolor looks like, his markings are 'not true tricolor' and I get asked what he's mixed with. I guess the point it is is that most people innocently assume that shelties only come in sable or blue merle and...

Question about exactly where to wicket a pretty-much-over-sized Kel

I so super heart you guys! I found a youtube video by the AKC (!) which followed the video Silaria recommended. It showed (mostly judges) how to weigh and measure, so I searched throughout my house, ended up using - of all things - an embroidery frame. I took off one of the shorter edges...

Question about exactly where to wicket a pretty-much-over-sized Kel

Thank you for the link - in my mind the withers on Kel seem so much more pronounced. I also found - ironically - a youtube from the AKC, so I'm hoping once I read this, I can get a beter view. I'm going to wicket the daylights out of him. I put hubs back on a plane at the inhumane hour of 5...

Question about exactly where to wicket a pretty-much-over-sized Kel

There is a show coming up a few hours from my house (we're in Texas, so that qualifies as 'close by) that I am still thinking about entering. The show is 4 days long, but I'm thinking about only doing one day with Kel (the specialty, because I'm not one for doing anything the easy way:)). No...

    The Secret Life of Pets

My cats don't wait for either one of us to leave before swinging the paw and scattering food all over the place (they are evil...) And we use the excuse that we are looking at this movie as a kind of documentary...y'know, because we have three dogs and six cats.

    Natural Flea and Tick Prevention

Thanks. I need to watch what I put on my dogs since the cats often push the dogs away from the dogbeds set up in the living room, and a lot of the preventatives out there are harmful to cats. Frontline doesn't work anymore, my dogs are okay with Nexgard but that tends to add up, and the day...

    A new baby...

We lasted 6 weeks from losing Lir on Christmas Eve (he went to sleep and never woke up) to driving 7 hours to pick up Kel. We had long ago vowed No More Pets, and that once our pets started crossing the Bridge, we wouldn't bring another one in. Yeah, right. It surprised the both of us how large...

    Natural Flea and Tick Prevention

Ironically, the infestation of fire ants that is prevalent in south TX keeps fleas at bay in my backyard. Now, TICKS and MOSQUITOES are another story. Ann, can you recommend anything natural as a tick repellent? Right now all three of my dogs are on vet-recommended medication, which DOES work...

    Brushing, brushing, brushing...food in mane?

I would elevate the bowl. Or a smaller bowl. I use the latter, since my Kel pretty much inhales his food and this would prevent him from reaching over and into his bowl.

How hard is it to find a tick on a dog, even a really a really hairy one?

According to the article, the owners noticed the dog started to have issues after they came back from hiking. My sister, who loves to go hiking in southern California, told me that she checks her scotty after each hike for ticks, burrs in his paws, even scratches that could get infected. She...
