    Desperate about barking

Definite co-relation with Baby being born, I think. because my sheltie also barked more when my neighbor got a new puppy. It just barked more, not Crazy a lot but more than before. and it did this wether it saw the puppy or not. Solution I think is DE-BARKING. Your dog is young so...

What random things does your sheltie bark at?

Sneezing is the Big one. If you sneez, your sheltie will go off with crazy bark. Trains, lawnmower, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles, these are BIG ones.

Indoor Apartment Sheltie - Will Neighbors Hear the Barking?

If buy a 2 year old sheltie, Issues, No attachment ?

I think the trick is to buy one that is 1-2 years old that is the one that was grown out for show but something went wrong and Can't be shown. Those are the ones to buy. They are usually too big or too small or have gay tail, or just doesn't like the showring.

If buy a 2 year old sheltie, Issues, No attachment ?

Well, most good showhome breeders do let the dog into the house, but they rotate the dogs every other day. because too many dogs to let them all in at once:biggrin2:. but It is true that they don't teach basic obedience or anything of that nature. because they need to learn how to act and...

If buy a 2 year old sheltie, Issues, No attachment ?

Great Advice. but doesn't most showhomes pretty have to socialize the dog and make sure the dog is outgoing and friendly ?? Otherwise that sheltie can never compete in the ring. I thought this was a given in a showhome ?

If buy a 2 year old sheltie, Issues, No attachment ?

Agree, I think it really just depends on the sheltie's personality. maybe that owner got a sheltie that doesnt' like to cuddle or little more selfish ?

If buy a 2 year old sheltie, Issues, No attachment ?

If you buy a Sheltie fully grown from a show home, ie, A show sheltie that grows too big or a Fault develops so it Can't be shown anymore. In these cases, these shelties will be sold to a Pet home. These are usually 1 year old or older. Does these older shelties have problems attaching...

    Debarking a Sheltie---recommend a good Vet ?

You know how the Sheltie bark carries far and loud. YOu can hear a sheltie bark a mile away. they are just made that way. and YES, successful Debarking will allow the sheltie to bark but with raspier, hoarse voice. That is the Objective. That was the voice my last sheltie had after...

    Debarking a Sheltie---recommend a good Vet ?

Kelly, for some reason, this area locally is scarce on vets that do this job. They tell me this is old procedure and they no longer consider it part of Vet practice. and yes, my breeder knew of this vet in north but she said he no longer does this procedure.

    Debarking a Sheltie---recommend a good Vet ?

Well if you have a good Vet do the job, it lasts forever. I had a sheltie I bought from a showhome that was 1 and 1/2 year old that was already debarked and that sheltie had toned down bark for the rest of its life. That Vet has retired since then.
