    Should shelties eat fruit

Every time I have an orange, my sheltie Sara comes up to me and nudges me with her nose. (This is her way of saying she would like a treat.) The otehr day, I gave a bite of the orange, thinking she would spit it out. Instead, she loved it! I have also learned that she likes pineapple. Is...

Should I hand feed a new dog?

Reporting back. I put kibble in Sara's crate moistened with a little milk the past 2 nights. She ate every bite! Thanks! Bob

    random encounter

On Thanksgiving, I got a good complement when walking my new sheltie Sara. My neighbors were out with a relative from England. The woman from England said that Sara was "a glorious dog." Only someone with a proper British accent could pull that off!

We got that information when we purchased her. She is eating the same food, so that can't be it. Bob

Should I hand feed a new dog?

We got our Sheltie Sara 8 days ago. She will not eat much from her bowl and we have been concerned about her losing weight. However, she will eat out of my hand, and I have been hand feeding her kibble from the palm of my hand. Do you think this is OK? Am I creating a bad habit? Thanks. Bob

My wife bought a "voice softened" sheltie

This is my biggest concern. Our house and property are not that big, but it could be an issue.

My wife bought a "voice softened" sheltie

She had a few when she got here a week ago. First, she was somnewhat skittish when off her leash, and would run away when you tried to catch her. However, this was a good week for her to be home, because my children were home for Thanksgiving, and there was someone with her at all times...

My wife bought a "voice softened" sheltie

Coincidentally, right after I typed the first post, the breeder called to talk to my wife. We discussed the debarking, and she stated she normally only debarks dogs that she expects to be show dogs. From other reading, I understand that debarking show dogs is not uncommon.

My wife bought a "voice softened" sheltie

I would love to show you some, but I don't know how to post them. Also, given that I am a new user, I can't have an avatar. But take my word for it, she was pick of the litter and was gorgeous! (Don't all parents think their kids are the best?):wink2:

    considering a sheltie

As someone above said, that depends on the dog. Our last Sheltie got out a side gate left open by a gardener. When we realized it, we ran to the front door and opened it to run out to look for her. We didn't have to go far. She was sitting on the welcome mat and, when the door opened, she...

My wife bought a "voice softened" sheltie

This is my first post. I found this forum by searching the word "debarked" and see it has been a controversial topic on this forum and elsewhere. Long story short: Our first Sheltie passed about 6 months ago, and we decided it was time for a new Sheltie. because I was busy with work, my wife...
