Thanks for the advice. She is currently eating premade raw the brand is small batch. I'm definitely taking her to see a holistic vet just to make sure she doesn't have any kidney issues on the horizon.
I just know I'm definitely not putting her on senior foods.
Dawns2shelties- I'm sorry...
I haven't posted in a while but Crouton has been rawfed for aboout 3 years now. My problem is that I took her to get a senior physical and blood test (she's 12 now). Well we got her results back and the doctor told me she's perfectly healthy. Only her BUN/Creatinine levels were really high and...
It scared the s%#& out of me! Yeah not having closure is pretty awful too.
No news except the doctor got the results of the urine culture and said it's not from a UTI she just told me to moniter her and see if there is any more blood, which thank God there isn't. So I have no idea why she...
So thanks for all the responses, but the urine culture came back and it turns out it's not a UTI. They just told me to monitor her and if she gets worse then bring her back. So that news is even worse than if it's a UTI because now she had a crazy amount of bleeding that is now unexplained. Oh well.
Thanks all for the support, I just got an update from the vet regarding her urinalysis and she told me that there are no crystals or anything in her urine except a lot of blood. So that rules out kidney or bladder stones and they won't know what type of bacteria or if it is bacteria until the...
Thanks for your prayers Mally's mom and they may have worked because I took her to go pee again just now and I stuck a paper towel under her and there was no blood in her urine. I'm just anticipating the call from the doctor.
In the meantime I'm flavoring her water with some chicken broth I...
I'm really freaking out I took Crouton to the dog park today and when she peed all the dogs crowded around sniffing so I took notice anyway, there was some yellow urine but there was an inordinate amount of dark blood inside I took her to the vet right away and they did a urinalysis and are...
Beef heart made Crouton throw up the first two times she ate it but she got used to it and now she can eat it as a whole meal now. Same with green tripe.
1.2.and 4. Oh I overlooked that you were only doing it once a week so it doesn't matter that you give them 2-2.5% of their body weight as their daily intake. And a leg is great but just not as much of a challenge for teeth cleaning once a week purposes. You should give them some cuts of meat...
There's no reason to cut it up. I do cut up boneless meals when they get down to the last bit about the size of my fist because I know that she gets lazy with the last bit of boneless meals and doesn't chew it, but other than it's fine to leave food whole. When first feeding raw they don't think...
Crouton got mucous when I switched her over too. She was fine after a week. Oh, and she also had diarrhea too. It's just them detoxing. Also the bone fragments are normal in the beginning, their stomachs are getting used to breaking down the bone. The more you feed them raw the better the acids...
Crouton does this too! When she was at my parent's house on vacation they couldn't figure out what was doing that to the bathmat and my dad meanly convinced my grandma it was a ghost. All until they caught her in the act.
Her only quirk is that she will stick her face in front of my face. I...
