    I'm HUNGRY!!!

Our fella is not a barker, well that is unless it is time to eat. He lets us know as soon as we get back from the morning walk, all the while doing his Sheltie spin, that it is time for breakfast. And then again about 3pm, he tells us again. That is the extent of Koz's barking. I wonder if any...

    Trimming the Shelties hair

Ok well, we had a go at it today and he looks grand, Used the trimmer with the largest #8 blade guard which really did not take off all that much hair and some scissors to trim the fur behind the legs and around the feet. He is not going to win any shows but we think he looks great and he seems...

    Trimming the Shelties hair

Ok after watching some vidoesand stuff, I have the brushing down pat. But now, Koz's hair is getting quite long and needs to be trimmed back some. Not a lot but some. I know that I could take him into the groomer and have him do all this but I really would like to do it myself. Esp since he is...

Koz gets his first home bath

Thanks so much for the link to the Sheltie grooming book. It is just what I have been looking for. Our groomer does a great job but is expensive and I always leave her a good tip. So, as Koz is such a good trooper when it comes to bathing and brushing, I should be able to learn to do it myself...

Koz gets his first home bath

Koz has been home with us for about 8 months now and has made a couple of trips to the groomer. We have never tried to give him a bath but after a foray into a mud puddle in the backyard a few days ago it was time for his first one at home. Now Koz is not the first dog in our family and we have...

    Debarking a Sheltie---recommend a good Vet ?

Our Koz is a rescue and 7 years old when we got him, Not a whole lot is known about his past. I am thinking that he may have been debarked at one time as he rarely barks and when he does it is a very quiet bark.

    Debarking your Sheltie.

I have seen here and on other sites where some folks atr having a REAL hard time with their barking Shelties. We are lucky with our Koz as he rarely barks, and when he does it a quiet bark unlike the Corgi's that we had who would bark at the leaves falling outside. Anyway I just came across this...

    Our Sheltie and dog Beds

We have had our Sheltie rescue, Koz, Home for almost 3 months now and he is settling in pretty well. He certainly is an indoor dog and really doesn't care to be outside all that much. He has yet to venture on his own into our back yard. Our house is tiled with just a few throw rugs and Koz...

Getting dog from breeder versus rescuing

Our guy Koz is a rescue, he came into our home about a month ago. He is just the most lovable, gentle dog that we have ever had. We previously had a Golden Retriever, rescue, who had all sorts of socialization issues. Try as we might, classes, training, just taking him around other dogs, he...

    Training older Sheltie

Thanks everyone, Koz is getting used to us, the house and the neighborhood. I think that we are going to give him a few more weeks of just hanging out and getting used to us and his new situation before starting any kind of training program. He is still pretty timid so not sure just how well...
