Our Sheltie and dog Beds

We have had our Sheltie rescue, Koz, Home for almost 3 months now and he is settling in pretty well. He certainly is an indoor dog and really doesn't care to be outside all that much. He has yet to venture on his own into our back yard. Our house is tiled with just a few throw rugs and Koz seems to like laying on the cool tiles. But we went out and bought him a nice soft dog bed, which he has never used. He ignores it completely, He doesn't even lie down on the softer rugs throughout the house. However he does have a 2 inch thick pad in his dog crate and wont go into his crate unless the pad is in! Go figure! Shelties!

crate and pad are for relaxing- chilling on the floor is the rest of the time....
all of mine prefer the floor or the couch although they will sometimes take advantage of one of the many dog beds scattered around:winkgrin:

I have a dog bed for Piper that has a cooling pad in it so he will lay in it occasionally but he does prefer the cool floor. If it's cool in the bedroom he'll sleep on the bed (very rarely will he stay on the bed all night). Yup, Shelties prefer the coolness, your guy is lucky he's got nice cool tile to sleep on lol.

Yep, Shelby finds the coldest spot in the house and that is where you will find her. Often at night I find her in the bathroom, between the tub and the toilet sleeping on her back She would hate sleeping in bed with us. If I sleep in the guest room b/c of DH's snoring I let her sleep with me. She stays about an hour at the most and then she leaves the bed to find that cold spot.

When we first brought Oberon home, we bought him what we thought looked like a really comfy puppy-sized bed. He either sleeps with us or on the floor in a "nest" he's built out of clothes he's stolen from the dirty laundry. The cat, however, thinks the puppy bed is a great place to keep his toys and nap periodically.

From the first day Minnie loves the big pillow that lay in the bedroom after my GSD :wink2:
she lies on her back with all four legs straight in the air most of the night
She does not want to lie in my bed.

She has exactly the same pillow i the living room but she never uses this to lay or sleep on
she uses it only for fun :biggrin2: but sleeps on the couch or the floor.

Annabelle must have a bed. Only peasant dogs sleep on the floor. Heaven forbid! We piled all of the beds up to mop. When we turned around, Annabelle was laying on ALL of the beds and quite content about it too. Clara and Rocket sleep on the second couch or on the bed with us. Cooper doesn't care. Tara usually lays next to one of us or right at my feet.

Bailey loved his beds and he had beds and pads all around the house. The girls not so much. There are two pads Annie uses in the living room other than that the floor is the sleeping, resting place of choice for both of them.

My boys are not big on dog beds either!

Heck, why would they want a dog bed when they can be on the sofa with you!

They like the cool tile in the summer!

My girl lovessss her beds. My little diva has a bed in every room. She seems to be the opposite of most sheltes here and likes to lay on the floor when she can find a nice streak of sun. She loves laying in the sun. I often find her sunbathing behind the shades.
