scared/hiding six month old male, sheltin

update... about time ;) Sorry folks for not posting anything sooner. between work and sleep and puppy management I find little time for anything recently. Sheltin has progressed so well. I've also created acouple of 'bad behaviors' along the way. He likes to lick everyone and...

thanks thanks! Still a bit of a road with some obstacles in the way, but a vast improvement. I know the upcoming months of training and reinforcing will be a lot smoother/easier Sheltin's a keeper! :wink2:

receycled paper treats... hey now, that's a great idea LOL! I can just use my bills and other 'junk mail', since Sheltin LOVES chewing on paper products and save on treats too!! TP might get to be spendy when he and the cat could easily go through a roll or two a day as a playtoy...

tricks and treats I find it extremely amusing to watch random dogs perform for someone they don't even know when they see treats. Or, if they see another dog doing a trick, they'll pull one from their bag o' tricks and keep trying every one they know to see if they're gonna get a treat...

new home and treats fortunately for barbi and I, we are moving into a friend of the family's home, so he's already visited there a few times. So hopefuly the shock of a new home won't be such a shock. I used the 12' run cable around my waist trick as I walked around the yard at the new home...

eating from hand... sheltin is still scared to take treats from my hand. I've tried everything (all his fave snacks, etc), except patience, and he'll out wait me and have me toss the treat on the ground for him... hmmm....

sheltin pix http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j170/gonecat/sheltinafterbath.jpg not too long after we got him, fresh out of the tub...:wink2: and this one shows what Sheltin thought a fire hydrant was for...:rolleyes2: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j170/gonecat/sheltinfirehydrant.jpg

sheltin update :rolleyes2: where to start... nah, I'm kidding. Sheltin is coming along in leaps and bounds, literally through the hall of our apartment at 3, 4 or 5 a.m. I can only imagine what our downstairs neighbors think. He's still kinda shy around Barbi and shier with people he...

    Children...bah!

kid cautious critters... Sheltin's first experience (probably his first walk ever on a leash) ended up with a little one barrelling toward him yelling 'puppy! puppy!'. The mother, impressively, told her son that 'you don't know this dog.' and redirected her son. Her daughter (probably about...

head butting... yep, he seems to think head butting his side is funny. he'll stand and look at me with his little tail just waggin' a bit. either that or he thinks I'm crazy and he's laughing at me, not sure... now to cure the 'chew monster' he loves paper.... fortunately he...

not as shy sheltin... he's following me around and patting at my legs when I walk then runs the other way when I stop to look at him... when I walk by him he doesn't hide and will let me pet him now, though he hangs his head down every time still. I will get on the floor next to...

the bath face.... he won't jump in the tub, but he doesn't fuss in there either. he just gives me the 'stink eye' :uhoh: and will lay down and take his bath without issues. I was surprised he'd lay down in the tub once i had it with water over his paws, but I added more warm water...

sheltin's more out of his shell!! Well, before starting a debate/argument over training methods  Sheltin's doing great! this a.m. I woke up and saw Sheltin peeking in our bedroom. I put my hand down and he walked by so I could pet him without using 'here' nor a redirect of his...
