11 week old pup vomiting

Ill try and explain what has happened...

I woke up last night about 12ish and found charlie vomiting but it was like a gag, it was clear vomit witha little bit of kibble in it.

Then this morning he had all this breakfast and about 15min later his whole breakfast came up. Since then he has vomited twice both times clear with a little yellow tinge to it. Charlie is still a very happy dog running around acting silly like a puppy does.

His Stool is a little bit softer then normal but not Runny.

Any thoughts..

I have taken him to the vet and they dont know whats wrong with him yet, but they want me to leave him there for a day or two.
 
Hello, and sorry to hear Charlie is not feeling well, it is always scary with small puppies. There is a wide range of things that could be the problem- from the fairly mundane, to the quite serious. Have you gotten any more information on the situation?

I would probably start by asking if Charlie has been on his puppy vaccination schedule, where/when that has been done, has Charlie been exposed to any public areas, has he been on a worming schedule, has the stool been checked, has his food changed, did he possibly consume something he wasn't supposed to eat, those types of questions.

Hi,

Charlie's vac's are up to date, i have'nt changed his food and i dont think he has eaten anything he should'nt have. The only place i have taken him is his puppy class.

I picked Charlie up from the vet this afternoon and i was told not to feed him alot, so i gave him boiled chicken and rice. He ate that pretty quick and he is drinking fine.

He has not vomited for 6 hours now, i hope he is ok now.

It sounds like you're on the right track. I'd stick to the boiled chicken and rice for a day or two, just to be safe, and then add in Charlie's kibble slowly, gradually increasing it until you're back on just kibble, to the chicken/rice mixture. You can't be too careful with young puppies. What kind of food does he eat normally? Is he on any supplements? It's hard to tell what can upset their stomachs, but you're smart to catch it early. Charlie is all good now, we dont know what the real problem was but the boiled chicken and rice for 4 days did the trick.
 
Glad Charlie is Better!

He is obviously a pup with a sensitive stomach so you may want to give him a little yougurt daily. The live cultures tend to calm their bellies down. That was a trick my vet told me when Kia was on Antibiotics to keep her tummy from getting upset she suggested Yougurt with live cultures . Just a suggestion. Keep it up Charlie!!:wink2:
