6 month old puppy's joints are clicking/cracking

Hey all,

About a week ago I noticed that Lola's joints will slightly click or pop (sounds like if you were to crack your fingers). I mainly notice it when she stands up from a lying position, and it's not localized to just her hips or anything (actually sounds like its coming from her "ankles" mostly, if that makes any sense). She doesn't seem to be in any sort of pain or discomfort. She's still her normal active little self. I heard that the clicking can be because she's growing, is that true? Anyone else have any experience with this before? Thanks!!

Thanks for the insight. I've been doing some online research, and I actually came across Luxating Patellas in my searches. I am bringing Lola to our vet this afternoon to get checked out. The cracking/popping noise has been going on for almost 2 weeks now, always when she stands up, multiple times a day. I noticed it does it a lot at night too. I figured it's better to be safe than sorry and to get it checked sooner rather than later. I will let you guys know what the outcome is!!

Thanks so much for your concern with Lola! Her visit went great and the vet gave her a good report! Although the dr. heard the clicking in Lola's knee when he worked her leg back and forth, he said that the knee was staying in place and not slipping so it was not LP thankfully! He also said that as long as she isn't showing any signs of pain or discomfort (holding the leg up, etc) that he believes that it is nothing to worry about, but said to keep an eye out. He also said that sometimes it happens when puppies grow and that it could happen all the way up until she's a year old (and done growing). So relieved it was nothing to worry about! Better to be safe than sorry I suppose. I'm such an overprotective mommy :)
