9+ months and still not in heat....when?

Hi everyone,

Our little girl is 9 1/2 months old and still hasn't went into heat. I asked the breeder when the mom went into heat for the first time and he said 7-9 months old. Just wondering how long this might go on?

Every dog is different...our breeder told me that one of her females only goes in heat once every 10 months...others 2 times a year.

I know someone whose dog didn't come in until she was 2- not a sheltie but still.......................

My Sheltie girls all go into season between 9 and 12 months, some closer to 12 for the first time. The first season signals maturity, and every line matures at a different time. So don't panic, it's coming. Most of mine cycle every 9 to 10 months after the first time.
