A good Sheepdog

Kip probably has a good herding instinct as
well. He cares about his flock!
Yes he does!!
Kip is obsessed with herding our cows and gets better at it all the time. I didn’t train him to herd, he did it on his own. So he’s developed his own style. It’s fairly rare for a Sheltie to have the courage to move cows, but Kip has so much attitude he’s not the slightest bit deterred. Just yesterday the youngest naughtiest cow, Daisy, tried to run into the wrong pasture. I pointed at her and told Kip to get her, and he turned her right around and chased her back to the correct pasture. He’s pretty amazing!

Here’s a recent video of Kip helping drive the cows to the barn.

It’s getting to the point I don’t know how I’d manage without Kip at chore time! I never expected him to be like this! Just another example of what an amazing breed this is:)

Here’s a more recent picture of Zimmer and his family. His mother is really great. Even though we handled him a ton the first 24 hours, and even had to keep him the house for awhile, she still loved him and was very happy to have him back. Some sheep would reject their lambs after that much human interference. 1210B0D8-682F-4B18-B415-096B4CB06624.jpeg
