A name change?

I've had Shelby for a couple weeks now, and she adjusting pretty well. I'm learning her quirks... she's learning mine :wink2: She's settling in well, and fitting in with me and Maddie (and the other dogs, and my friends dogs lol)

But, I'm not so sure I'm liking her name very much. It doesn't roll off my tongue very well, I don't really know why. I can't put my finger on it... But, I'm sure I could get used to it if I wanted to... But I'm not sure if I really want to

The only reason I'm seriously considering it is because while she acts like she knows her name half of the time, she doesn't associate it with coming or attention, or anything like that. I mean, when she feels like it she does, but that's not often So, either way I have some work to do with her "learning her name" so to speak.

Soo... I wanted ya'lls opinion I'm on the fence, usually with fosters I don't have an issue changing names... especially if the old name *could* be associated with some negativity.
Would you keep it, or would you change it?
And, if you would change it, any name suggestions????

TIA

I think she looks like a Mab, short for Mabel. Looking at her pictures, it looks like she's a sweet, fairy-like lady, so why not name her after Queen Mab?

First off I want to say that I love the pictures. Shelby looks like she has been friends with the cocker spaniel for some time! On changing names don't they usually say not to change the name too much so it does not confuse the dog with the name it already has? My daughter said what about naming her Kelly?

I have no problem with changing a dog's name- my mix I changed his name between the shelter and the pet store for his new tag.
Callie- I liked her name so she got to keep it :smile2:
Cranberry I named- my Thanksgiving pup:yes:
Dixie- I didn't mind it and she did already respond to it so she got the T-day theme in her registered name

Do you have any leanings toward something else?
would starting with M to go with Maggie work better?
any themes/stuff that you like that would make a good name?

what a sweetheart! and it looks like she has fit in very well.

to me, Shelby is not the simplest name to say, and I agree with Malley's Mom that the name, if you change it, should be similar so as not to cause confusion.

How about Shelley?

I don't have any name suggestions...but I don't think it would be hard to change her name if you wanted to. For instance...both my dogs think their name is "cookie"!
