A name change?

I like Shelly and Ellie... and Callie :biggrin2:lol

But, for some reason I'm really leaning towards Bailey... I don't know what it is, but I dreampt about that name last night :sleepy: :o
 
You can't go wrong with Bailey! But then, I'm prejudiced.....that was our sheltie angel's name! She was such a sweet girl - go for it!

She does look like a Gracie to me, too! I can't say exactly why. A certainly elegance mixed with a sense of humour, maybe.

I don't think you should have any issue changing the name. As commands are normally given along with the name anyway. Indy, come! Indy Sit! Indy, you are a fool dog!

As long as you have eye contact while these commands are being made, pup will quickly associate that "you're talking to me, right?" - (i.e. instead of the cocker)

I'd have to agree. I hate to say it, but my xh used to call Miko "poopie" and yes, he'd respond. He probably will to this day although xh hasn't been around for over a decade.

I say, change it to whatever you want!
 
We got a lost Sheltie that was guessed to be 2 yrs old. Being a runaway, she had no name given to her yet when we got her. We would watch her react to words thinking we would hit upon what her name was.... boy did she know a lot of words! Everytime we talked to her we said 'girl' and then realized she was storing that into her brain and we'd better come up with something else.
I liked Shelley, but my DH didn't and thought she had more spunk so in turn named her Shelby (from the Mustang race engine).
She learned that name fast along with my nickname for her Shell Belle:winkgrin:
 
Bailey kept his name when we adopted him because he already responded to it and it was fine with us.

Katy would not respond to her given name and it was not a quick, easy name to call. The only word she responded to when we adopted her was cookie. So we started with hard "c" names until we found one she responded to and Katy she became.
 
I agree with picking something similarly sounding - she which she responds to best. We often see a kelpie called Tessa and when anyone calles Tessa, Deska also responds. Yet he often gets called Dexter and he doesnt respond to that so I am assuming its the ss-a sound he hears in his name rather than the D-a sounds.

I tried to change Tully's name to gidget but she responded to that about as badly as she responds to Tully. Sometimes the only way I can get through to her is a whistle.
