After months of considering whether Abigail might be a mix, I finally broke down and did the DNA test. They were having a holiday discount and I jumped at the chance. It turns out that they detected no other breeds than Sheltie! So we have one tiny Sheltie and one giant Sheltie. This confirms the back story of her being a puppy mill mama very well, though, as she is probably AKC registered and was producing registered pups to boost sales. Sick, but that's what her beginnings are.
Her forever home is with us and she has a bright and shiny future! We've even started taking her to Flyball practices and she shows some talent. Lots of work to do and competition is a looooonnngg way off, but it is something we can enjoy and a sport to get her mind engaged and keep her slender. When she's doing enough to actually video, I'll put up some shots.
And some gratuitous pictures of Abigail Jubilee, our sweet lady.

... that is the tiniest sheltie I've ever seen... and kind of odd looking for a sheltie" ... siiiigh... must pay more attention.

Then I finally found Abigail's photo!
