Acana which one....Classics or Regionals?

Hi everyone,

I have posted a few comments about Blaze and his current high cholesterol levels (28.4) and increase in white cells.

I have decided to change up the diet, and with help from the forum participants I see that Acana seems to be a common choice. I have him currently on gastro intestinal low fat diet to put him back into a good place prior to changing up his diet.

A few questions...which one would be best for Blaze (8 years old) 21.4 lbs he is not "sport" active.. we have long walks every day 4-6km and play. He is the only "child" in the family : )

BTW anyone who can recommend treats for tartar control ..if bones which ones would be best..

I rotate between all the Regional flavors (except for Wild Prairie because of a chicken sensitivity). I prefer the grain-free varieties.

And as for bones, I mentioned this on the other thread, but a few favorites here are Himalayan chews, and Merrick's Flossies.

I go grain-free Acana -- all kinds. For teeth, I wipe with 50% diluted hydrogen peroxide daily.
 
We feed our pup the grain-free Acana Pacifica. We definitely wanted to do grain-free, and I really liked how the Acana regionals food uses fresh ingredients sourced locally (instead of food that's been frozen and shipped across the country).

Our pup can't have poultry/fowl of any kind, so that ruled out a couple of their formulas. In the end, I think we had a choice of Ranchlands and Pacifica. We went with Pacifica because it was a few bucks cheaper than the Ranchlands. He is doing very well... loves the food, and he is staying fit and trim, and has a healthy, shiny coat, too.

Oh...is there any particular reason?
 
I recommend the Smokehouse Pig Ear Slivers (available on Amazon) - they're very nicely sized, made in the USA, and the CET chews (also available on Amazon) for medium-sized dogs. They're fairly cheap to begin with, even moreso because I cut both in half (Cora's 12lbs). My new vet was stunned by how good her dental health was, so they seem to be working pretty well :P
