When Jody was a little puppy he would was always make sucking noises when he slept. I knew he was dreaming about his momma. And it was always when he was asleep in my arms. It was the cutest thing ever!

One day he was laying on his back, snuggled in my arms, and sucking in his sleep, when I had the brilliant idea to stick my finger in his mouth. It was an effort to get it in there without waking him but I finally did. It was so cute! He was fully contented to suck my finger until it was pruned and all the salt was gone fom my skin. Then he woke up. You would be hard pressed to find a more exited little puppy! He was going nuts trying to get at my finger! The expression on his face said it all, 'MOMMY! MOMMY! Your HERE! Where's my milk Mommy?! Where is it?!' The entier time I was was shouting try to make myself heard over his exited crying, to try to tell him that it was just me. But he didn't hear, he was on a full blown 'feeding frenzy'! That pup would NOT let my finger go! He held on for dear life, I was FINALLY able to get it back! Then he looked around the room and let out a sad little sigh and layed back down to sleep. I wish everyday I think about it that I had video taped it. It was the funnyest thing I've ever seen!:lol:

From that day forward we've been inseparable. Jody and I had a good bond before that, but now he's my shadow. Why, I have no clue!

It's not a great video, but she only does it in the dark at bedtime!

And Bentley still suckles on toys. We say he is "nomming" them, but really he is suckling them. It's so cute. He will sometimes fall asleep with a toy in his mouth!

It was fun to watch him play with the balloon. There for a while Edan stopped playing. I wonder what he'd do today if I brought a balloon home? I may hve to find out.
 
When Donovan was a baby, he was obsessed with following me everywhere(and still is!). He had an adorable habit of gathering all of his toys one by one, bringing them to my feet and once he was done he would lay on top of them and fall asleep. If I moved into another room, he would do the same thing. :o I think he fell asleep right away because he was exhausted from moving all of his toys :b

Clarice also has a tendency to grunt every time we pick her up, as if she's anticipating her own weight to be a heavy lift for us :lol: I love those pups.
 
The other day I was busy building a hop trellis. When I came in for a break my wife told me that while I had been preoccupied with the work, Dickens had gotten his frisbee and was trying to get me to play, while being completely ignored. He'd take the frisbee and drop it at my feet, then pick it up again and work his way all around me, trying to get my attention. I had no idea he was there, and at last the poor guy gave it up and went back to the porch to mope!

Aww, poor puppy. Sometimes when I wake up I find that Honey has brought three or so toys and dropped them near me, hoping I will wake up to play.

But her most adorable as a puppy had to be her trying to snuggle the kitty. When we first got her, she was obsessed with the kitty (still is) and the cat was not as enamored with her. So whenever the cat was on the bed Honey would beg to get up, and than lay down, eyeing the kitty. Than she'd slowely crawl closer, pause and see if the cat noticed. Than she'd crawl until she was right next to the kitty! She'd pause, wait to make sure kitty wasn't going to move and than put her head on the cat to snuggle.

And than she'd get really excited, because she's touching the kitty!! and start wiggling with her whole body! So the cat would roll over and try to hold her still with her paws, but it was just to much for Honey, and so the cat would bolt and Honey would flop down and mope!

(She actually still does this today, but now she's much bigger than the cat, and it does not always go so smoothly)
 
Threads about "adorable" or "quirky" behavior have an up side and a down side for me. Down, because I am sooooo ready (emotionally) for my next Sheltie, but I know that waiting a few more months will be better for me and my pup. Up because I love remembering my dog's quirks.

To shorten my story as much as possible, I bought my Sheltie to benefit my wife, even though she was almost deathly afraid of animals. My reasons were sort of convoluted, but it turned out exactly as I had hoped. Anyway, I took her with me to meet the breeder and when I later selected the pup (he was about 5 wks.). She went with me to pick him up at 8 wks. She wouldn't pet him, touch him or even stand too close to him but she thought he was adorable. After a few weeks, she would feed him by putting his bowls down before moving away very quickly. He was several months old before she would touch him or let him touch her. Eventually, they became fast friends.

The quirkiest thing was, he would never let anyone (except eventually me or the kids) come between him and my wife when they were in the same room!!!! If anyone persisted in encroaching on their space, he would get more and more aggressive. I broke him of the habit with me and with the kids, but even with us, he would not take his eyes off of us until we moved away from her. Boy, I loved that dog.

Chauncey does the rubbing thing, I thought he might have allergies, I didn't know why he would do this? That video looked just like him doing it.
 
Bailey has quite a few adorable quirks... mostly bad ones, but a few good ones.

When she wakes up in the morning, she rubs against the bed and under the part of the blanket that hangs down. She wants me to scratch her as she walks against the bed, often with her mouth open and moaning.

When I come home from being out and when we return from a walk, she scratches the carpet and rubs her side against it, flips onto her back and bats her feet in the air. At this point I will rub her belly. Then she jumps up, shakes and is done with her silliness. :lol:

Also, before bedtime, she humps one of her dolls and rearranges her bed to her comfort. :rolleyes2:
