Advice on preparing for puppy

It's one of the things I'm really looking forward in a puppy. Bailey loved his toys. He played ball, frisbee, etc. When he died Katy stopped having anything to do with toys. She would occassionaly snuggle with a toy but no playing ball, etc. Annie will attack a trash bag with glee but no other than treat balls toy are only for snuggling. She is actually terrified of balls and things that fly. She will snuggle with her friends but never squeaks one unless she steps on it. I never thought I'd miss hearing the annoying squeak sounds Bailey would make with his toys but I'm so longing for a puppy who will play with toys!!!

I just remembered what I did when I got Piper (and then with Finnie as well)…I was a very worried new puppy owner because it had been years and I was worried about him being so small so I bought some gutter guard (the plastic mesh you put on your eaves trough to keep the leaves out) and I stapled it along the bottom of my fence/gates really anyplace I thought there was too much of a gap. I also staples it along my deck (which had a gate) to keep him from squeezing through the slats. With Finnie we’d moved so I did it at this house (also helped to keep the rabbits out lol). Of course when Blueberry came home I had an outdoor pen which helped immensely but then she was a winter pup and I wasn’t willing to give her the whole yard when it was -30 outside.
