Amanda and Smiling Sunny say HELLO!

Smiling Sunny

Forums Regular
Hello,
I am new to this forum and I am so excited to be apart of it!
I have had Sunny since March of 2010 and she is currently 6 months old. I hope to breed her when she is old enough and get some tips on my lil girls future.
Right now I am working on her "come." I have already taken her to puppy class and she passed, she just has trouble coming to me when she is preoccupied with all kinds of distractions. Any tips?

Also, when does a Sheltie's coat fully grow in?

Welcome!
I read the other day something like it can take 3-5 years before their full coat comes in, my sheltie is about 2 1/2 and she's getting there but not full yet.

Welcome to you and Sunny!

A sheltie's adult coat can come in at varying times. It really depends on your dog's pedigree. You could ask Sunny's breeder about when others in her line matured. Most people say around 2-3 years old, but some mature faster, and others slower.

Welcome to Sheltie Nation & forums! As some have said it really depends on your dogs lineage. Some mature faster than others.I would ask your breeder about the lines in her dogs,as she will be your best source for advice.

Well I guess I'm next in line to ask for pictures! :biggrin2:

You can join here as a premium member and share photos easily. And it helps Kelly to keep this site going.

But if not, many folks use other sources, like shutterfly(very good & easy),photobucket...(lots of pop up ads),flicker, etc.

Good to have you here~

Welcome to you both! Can't wait to see pics of your little one.

I have two shelties. One from a local breeder who had a beatiful full coat at a year. The other is a rescue who at 17 months has nowhere near the fullness of coat. Like the others said, it depends on their lineage. It will come in time, just be patient!
