My male Forrest is terrified of fire. When we have fires in the summer in the tiny fire pit, he has to go inside or he will try to jump the fence & run off. It's awful for him. He will stay inside, periodically peeping out the window to check on us, and he always looks so worried when he sees us out there next to the fire. I suspect he's in there wringing his paws.
Roxie stays out with us and basks in the attention, she even messes with him when she goes back inside, the little rascal.
we went camping once and it was the only time our dog ever tried to run away from us. He shot straight into the woods he was NOT interested in that fire! Any type scared him. We nver had a fireplace, that might be nice to raise a puppy to b a litle less afraid but I think its a natural fear and makes sense.
