I went to the Michigan Sheltie Facebook page and came across this image that horrified me!
Everyone seems to be talking about a tick problem... This is just downright scary!
I guess what they say, knowledge is power. Hope it helps someone... Gezzz, just too cringe-worthy!

Oh no...that tick under the gums is too much. I have never seen ticks in the numbers we are getting this year. Literally every single day I am finding ticks on all of my little ones...sometimes 2 or 3 ticks on one dog. Last week I bought a cedar oil based spray that is pet friendly to spray the dog yard but it has been raining almost non-stop since then. Today is sunny but tomorrow the rain is due back in so no sense spraying today. I used to love spring outside with the dogs, but outside time has become a nightmare and with the warming we are seeing is is only going to get worse. :(
But thanks for posting that picture Gloria...I would never have thought of having to check inside my dog's mouths...so that is a good heads-up.

Having been both a vet tech and an RN I've seen a lot, but this creeped me out completely. How awful. So far our tick year doesn't seem too bad, I haven't pulled any off the dogs yet. They start their Credelio in June and I use it through Sept.

Trini, your description sounds dire! :((

That is just disgusting! Thanks for sharing though...fortunately ticks aren’t bad here but outside the city they’re awful. I’d love to take them to a nice park with pathways to walk but I don’t want to have ticks crawling all over all of them!
