Blaze has about 3-4 months on the pup and 3 pounds and a few inches. The two just wrestle, chase, and play until they drop (a tired dog is a good dog--believe me).
Learned a few things. They will play into the wee hours of the morning if the are allowed--the 1:30 in the morning run in the yard got on my nerves. Pop BOTH dogs into their respective kennels (had to cover Westie's with a blanket)--turn off lights and ignore--the dogs will settle and next night they will settle without being popped into their kennels.
Another thing learned. Westies are terriers and love to dig. Seems that Blaze joined in the fun. (I may have a problem with him digging in my beds now.) With that and the wet Washington weather plus a dog door where they could go out to the protected backyard at their own choosing and my floors don't make a nice match. Solution (after first cleaning up the mud tracked in)--lay a towel long-wise in front of dog door. As dogs come in, they wipe their feet simply by traveling the length of the towel.
Yet another thing learned. Dogs will teach each other. Westie pup is completely untrained. Blaze has some commands under his collar. So when asking the pups for a "sit", Blaze would watch me as I would actually show the pup what I wanted (for pup to put bottom down). Next thing I knew was that when I asked for a "sit", Blaze would immediately do his for a treat and then if pup was still having problems, Blaze would put his paw on pup (as if to remind). Thing is by time Westie left us, Westie would respond to a "sit". (Trouble is, if this isn't reinforced at home, pup will lose the command. Oh well, we tried.)
