Are they listening to us?

Its funny, every time I tell Beau our plans for the day(or anything for that matter) Beau looks at me intently and tilts his head to one side and then flickers his ears back and forth.

Do your fur boys/girls do this?

I think its hysterical

Bailey does this, too! I think its so cute! She does it when she looks like she is watching TV, too

... and when I talk to her, she makes "woo woo" noises back, as if she's talking back

Sandstorm does this, I have conversations with him all the time because it's as if he understands

I really think they understand a lot more than we usually give them credit for. I know they understand certain words - but also moods, tone of voice, and so much more. I also think they will, on occasion at least, talk to us - and I know that I need to be a better listener to my shelties many voices. Regards, Will

Both my Shelties have done this. And I had a Border Collie we had to spell stuff around - eventually, he learned to spell, too.

They understand WAY more than we could ever know.

I am by myself (except for the dogs) for a good portion of the time, and I keep up a running conversation with them most of the time. I have no doubt they understand a lot of what I say!
