Baker says hello!

Baker is just completely adorable as is Cubby. I am definitely getting my puppy fix vicariously this year! So many new little faces to oooh and ahhh over. Congrats on finally getting Baker home and all the fun that is to come.

Baker and Cubby are both adorable. I love seeing all the pictures of them.

I'm hanging in here waiting for my new baby. One day I will have a new puppy. I just don't know when yet.

WOW!

When Baker picked me out at 6 weeks old he was the smaller of the 3 available boys. At 8 weeks when we picked him up Saturday the size difference was even more noticeable. Had his first vet check-up yesterday & weighed in at a whopping 3 lbs 1.6 oz! But he passed the exam with flying colors!

I found a puppy size calculator today where you select the breed, current age & weight and it predicts the adult weight. According to that, little Baker will only grow to just over 9 lbs. I don't really have a problem with that - it's just going to be so different from Trace. He was already on his way to oversize when I chose him at 5 weeks. He ended up at 18" and hovered around 30 lbs.

Feel like I'm gonna have a "pocket puppy"? lol

Ember was 3lbs 2 oz at 9 weeks. She is 13" and 13 lbs now. Boys grow longer. Do you have a height?

Haven't tried to do that yet. He's super wiggly, but want to have some numbers to record. We will maybe try this weekend, before we do the first glue/tape job.:smile2:

Ember's numbers give me hope - not that I will have a problem with a tiny boy - just not what I had envisioned. But...doesn't matter...it's bedtime & if I could crawl into that crate with him tonight to sleep I would be happy.

Beginning to wonder, truly. If I didn't know we were related to Carter, Cooper, and Emmy . . . I saw his Mum, tiny little barely 13" thing.

Wondering now if maybe the neighbors have a Collie! Yikes.

Baker had another good night - out at 10:45pm for a quick pee & a quiet boy in a clean crate at 5:15 this morning.

A little disappointed tonight when he non-nonchalantly started to pee right in front of me about 45 minutes after doing it outside. After discussing his potty breaks & schedule that I am not a party to during the day I found out that hubby takes him out when he wakes up, he pees, gets praised & they stay out & play for a bit. Am I wrong in telling him to have a "way to go party" right after he pees & bring him inside right away? So he knows that was the reason he was out there? I told him to do that, then, before he goes back to the crate he can take him out for play time.

I don't want to complain - hubby has to (gets to) deal with Baker all day while I'm away at work. I would trade places in a heartbeat if possible!

As far as Baker's size compared to the standard, and cousin Cubby - it will be really interesting to see what these pups end up looking like as adults. As long as they are all healthy & happy we are all blessed.

Really...I've always been told that size doesn't matter... :)

about 45 minutes after doing it outside

What was he doing in those 45 minutes? Playing, chewing, drinking, sleeping, eating? We go out A LOT! Definitely more often than 45 minutes unless asleep or really intently playing with a sock in the couch.

Most of the time it is out, potty, return. Sometimes it is zoomy around the yard time. When Shay was a pup we would go out and potty and he and my other dog would play a bit, wrestle, whatever, and then we would go in. I keep trying to change it up because if it is always out, potty, return, crate or return short play, crate he will associate doing business with going back to crate. This way he never knows what is coming, playing, inside playing, couch chew time, crate, being held.

I am sure the size will even out. Cubby growing so big so fast in likely not the best thing in the world but he is what he is.
