So Starr has always loved retrieving things (receipts, cell phones, dustbunnies...you name it, he'll retrieve it). He has a really soft mouth, and never damages anything. He's known how to pick up money from the time he was a young puppy - even when it's folded down into a tiny square.
Over the Christmas vacation, I was visiting my parents house (along with my siblings). We were talking in the living room, and my sister went out to the kitchen, where she found a $5 dollar bill on the floor, ripped into three pieces. She called into the living room, asking who had ripped up money (there were about 4 dogs in the house at the time). I told her it wasn't Starr, since he's never ripped or damaged anything he picked up. A half hour passed, and all of a sudden, I heard my Mom say "Hey, get out of there!"....Starr's head was deep in my sister's purse! It turned out Starr had gone into my sister's purse, into her (folded) wallet, and pulled out the five dollar bill - it had ripped because it had caught in the wallet! What's even funnier is that even though it ripped, he kept going back to get all of the pieces and then stacked them neatly! When my Mom caught him, he was halfway through pulling out a $10 bill (at least he was working his way up!).
I couldn't stop laughing - and we all kept our purses off of the floor after that! I think I'm going to book a flight for the two of us to Vegas. Do you think the high rollers will notice a Sheltie hanging around their table?
