Behavior changes when 2nd Sheltie moves in?

I have four, each time I have added a sheltie, my pack was a bit irritated by the puppy's playfulness and bad manners. After a few days though, everyone, including my 13 year old lazy, ornery old man, was playing and getting along like best friends.

I agree, shelties do best in packs.
 
I love having two shelties! We have a boy and a girl. Lucky is 4 years older then Lady. They hit it off right away. Lucky is really loving with her, and takes care of her. He also rolls his eyes at her too. She is acting like a Drama Queen again mom. They are characters together, lots of fun, and laughs.

Lady was 12 weeks old when I brought her home, I kept telling Lucky take care of your puppy, and he certainly has. The best, Lucky is really spunky for his age and I give credit to Lady for that.
 
I at one time had one Sheltie and she seemed to mello pretty young. Having two boys Paladin 15 months and Maverick 11 1/2 months keep each other busy and active and they are always together, you can really see the pack thing going on. They wrestle all the time. My goal is for them to keep each other young. I got Maverick after having Paladin for about three months, he seemed to need a friend.

Off-topic, but that is a cool-looking sheltie in your avatar; never seen one with so much white on the face!
 
After Liam came, Emma got quieter. Liam is very pushy, but very cuddly. I am going against what everyone else is saying. I would not likely have two again, but stick with one.
 
Once Bailey realized we were not trading him for Katy at the foster home he was thrilled with Katy. He had been alone since he was a puppy. Having the two of them together I would rather keep two in the future. While Bailey did OK by himself, Katy will be very challenging on her on.
 
I really think all dogs are comfortable with another dog in the house. But introducing another dog completely changes the family dynamics (that means with the humans, too). I had my Sheltie Neechee for two years before my husband (now ex) decided he wanted to do obedience, too, and got a Border Collie puppie. Neechee just ignored him for the first few days, and Max trotted around after him in a sort of play-with-me attitude. It takes at least six months for everybody to sort out the pack order and be happy with it.
