biting paws

My puppy likes to bite his paws. I asked the Vets and he said he did not see any infection, but it could be allergy.

Anybody having similar problems?

yep, Tully does the same - and licks the top. She was diagnosed with an allergy and I was a bit sceptical until the vet gave her an allergy shot and 'voila' all fixed. It even reduced her licking everyone and thing else! I only get the shots done when the season is really bad (esp for spring) and sometimes I give her an antihistamine (1/4 of a 12hr human one). I am meant to wash her paws after we have been down the oval (she's worse when on grass) but I must say I have been very remiss with that.

Probably allergies

My wife's Cavalier King Charles has suffered from allergies all of his life. His worst is grass... when he goes out, it gets between his toes and drives him into a flurry of licking. He licks so much that his paw fur has darkened from saliva and he occasionally gets raw spots. Benadryl used to give him some relief, but not so much anymore. The most useful treatment we've found is to wash his paws with soap & water after he goes out.

He's no dummy.... he's learned to hate the outside & spends very little time there.

My pup does when she gets her paws "dirty"

I think for the most part she picked it up from my cat who has always been a excessive groomer.
