blood in urine

Hi All

I just found out that one of my blood has blood in her urine, but I have 2 shelties, I have to check out the blood is come from which dog,
I'm so worry now, just called to the vet and he said collect some urine and bring it tmw for examination, any one have experience of it?
one of my female sheltie is 2 , sprayed and the other male is 4 ( netured).
I guess is the female one who has blood in urine.

any suggestion is appreciated.

I do, actually! When I got my first sheltie she had blood in her urine. It turned out to be a bladder infection (UTI) and was treated with antibiotics. It scared me, too. But in the end, it wasn't too big of a deal. I hope the same is true for you. Best of luck!
 
Quite often, blood in the urine means a UTI which is treatable with antibiotics.

Have fun collecting a sample :lol:

I had to do that for Chloe. I used a glass jelly jar that had been washed in the dishwasher and I used the sanitize dry so that it was very clean. I also cleaned one of those "drip trays" for my Foreman Grill. I followed my dog around with the drip tray and when she squatted, I put the tray under her and collected the urine. I then, carefully poored the urine into the jar.

Anyone want to come over for some grilled chicken on the foreman grill :winkgrin:

It's most likely a UTI and like the others have said, very treatable with antibiotics. However, I recommend taking her in and letting the Vet get a sterile sample from her. (although Danisgoat way is good too, ha ha ha). It's quite simple, the Vet or a qualified experienced Tech inserts a small needle into the bladder and "collects" a sample. Just a suggestion of course :smile2:.
 
after visited the vet for mui mui and had the urine test , the result showed that everything is ok , no infection or crystals, then the vet suggested me to take 10 days antibiotics and see the result. he said antibotics can clear infection, but can't clear stones.
HE said if there is still blood in her urine, then we need to do X rays to see is there stones inside, but he mentioned X rays can't see small stone, only can show large amount and big stones..if there are stone, then need to remove it, it cost $ 1200 to remove it, X Rays $ 190 canadian dollars.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that there are no stones and that the blood disappears!
