Justus was in Beginner Novice B today, his first AKC trial. We earned a 193 (2 point deduction for barking) and he did most of the heel pattern on 4 legs, although the photographer's pictures suggest he was airborne a little more than that. Lucky to finish 3rd in the class of 15 dogs!

We had a lot of fun, despite cloudbursts of rain on the metal roof, a power failure that left the building dark for about an hour, and a shortage of cheese sticks. :smile2:

I spent way too much money at the photographers booth and bought Justus a new leash, treats and a fun tuggy toy.

A happy day, and the armband and ribbons goes in his scrapbook tonight.

I'm pleased with the boy, today was a test to see what I would get. He did not seem to stress and handled a long day real well. I will take it slow now and try to get him ready for fall trials. I don't feel alot of teamwork on heelwork yet.

I had a lag, wide, forge and that wasn't including having all that again on the figure 8. I think they are a little lenient with the beginner novice scoring.

But, he had a good time - that's what I was looking for. :)

The barking might be a problem, need to quit reinforcing any correct response if there is a bark attached. He seems to be telling me how to do my job!

Oh I learned that lesson a long time ago with Diva. I am just starting with her in utility and she barks everytime I release her. Last night I was working signals in the bedroom(its long 1/2 story) and she grumbled after every move. Ember was watching from the bed and I swear laughing at her because as soon as I release Diva she took off and pounce on Ember telling her off. :rolleyes2:

My problem with utility with Diva is I am find it hard to focus with her. SHe is so squirrelly and makes me squirrelly. Same with Birch. I would rather practice agility with those dogs. Justice and Ember were always so steady.:smile2:
 
Great job! I hope you share some of the pictures that you bought. I just love watching our dogs work for us.

I know this is OT, but Lexi is the SAME way. Any time I release her from anything, she barks. :rolleyes2:

1st place (far right) went to Britt and Mary.
Next is beagle Skeeter and handler Diane, Skeeter is 12 beagle years young!

Then Yup... its Justus pondering if his ribbon tastes like a cookie!

Nice. I see Justus has the sheltie lazy boy sit.:wink2: Why do shelties all sit like this?
