Brindle Sheltie??? what?

i did a google image search on "Brindle Sheltie"
first image that came up is a brindle sheltie and happens to be the only image i could find of one.

what is the rarity of that and what caused it to be a brindle like or what ever its called
 
Brindle is caused by an allele at the K locus. It is dominant to the ky allele, which causes the sable/tri/bi-black phenotypes. It essentially overlays black stripes on top of whichever agouti phenotype is present.

Brindle in Shelties is exceedingly rare. I'm not even convinced that it is a natural allele of Shelties, as the breed is essentially fixed at ky, so the chance of a kbr allele spontaneously occurring is very doubtful. I would be inclined to think that it was a crossbreed of some sort, in order to introduce the novel allele.
 
Yup, really rare. I read that they may not even be around anymore.
In my few years of internet browsing, I've only seen 4 pictures of brindle Shelties.
 
i dont know whats so bad about them
that picture of that brindle sheltie, he looks so adorable,
i personally think that coat looks gorgeous,

yeah, I think it looks nice too, in the same way color headed whites look nice. They're not recognized the CKC/AKC but they're still beautiful colors. As long as these dogs have no other genetic problems then I don't see the harm in them.
