I feel for the owner who probably made the right decision to give up her dog....but how heartbreaking that must have been for her. I have to give her credit for making this move.
And I'm sorry, of course, that your pup was injured as a result. I don't know about dog bites on dogs, but I do know that dog bites on humans can often go septic. Keep an eye on her wounds, as I know you will.
This just reminds me of caution of having dogs off-leash. I do walk my dogs off-leash and I always hope that we can have a walk without meeting another dog. For exactly this reason.
I expect that if I came into this situation, I would be a fighter myself. It makes me wonder whether or not I should carry a cane or something when I walk the dogs. We also have fox roaming around as well.
