Hi Everyone
I have been enjoying having our new little Sheltie girl who will be 8mth old in 9th Feb 2011 already . Its lovely having puppy abt the house again .
Anyway when we got Lady from her breeder at 10 weeks old he told us that had just sent of for all her and her sibling papers to Kennel Club UK as he wanted to give the new owners the chance to give the puppies there kennel name which sounded ok to us , that was in Sept it took 2 months and lot of phoning before i finally got all her papers .
On checking her papers my husband's noticed that Lady father who is showdog champion is affected by CEA and PRA , her mother is down as carrier.
The breeder didn't tell us and i didn't ask because all my shelties i have had in past didn't have any gentic problem although i knew abt shelties having hip problems and skin issues . i now know much to my heart ache. T
The problem is as far as we know her breeder didn't get lady eyes checked or at least as far we aware he didn't i did e-mail his abt this but he never got back to me . not supprising .
Anyway the only thing we have left open to us now is to have DNA test done on Lady she goes for this on 7 th of Feb i praying that she will be fine cannot stand the thought of my poor baby going blind at some stage . I am really worried but i know there nothing i can do if she affected .
Can anyone tell if her DNA test comes back postive should i inform the Kennel Club so they can let the other owners of this .
I so wanted to breeder from her she very clever pup and loves nothing more than running around our back garden or playing with big football . Thank for reading this long story i just want to let anyone else who thinking of getting a Sheltie to ask the breeder abt the pups eyes first .So they don't go through worry we are going through .
