Chicken soup?

I am thinking of switching my dogs over to this food. I am not asking for other suggestions on food (I know it is a very hot topic!). Does anyone feed this and is this food affected by the recall? Is it just that I may not find as much of it due to the recall or will it make my dogs sick? How much does a bag of this generally cost and how big is the bag? I am thinking of taking a trip today to the store to check it out, I have heard it is a pretty good quality food. Thanks in advance!

I feed Chicken Soup. It is manufactured in South Carolina and Missouri. It's the South Carolina food that is being recalled. I've been told to check the manufacture code. If it has an X in it it's made in South Carolina. The food manufactured in Missouri will have an M. The code is stamped on the bag in black and I had to look for it. It's not easy to spot. Thank goodness mine is made in Missouri.

They are saying it shouldn't make the dogs sick but if it's handled by the humans you need to be sure to thoroughly wash your hands. Myself I wouldn't have it in my house. Better to be safe than sorry.

It comes in various size bags. I buy the 18# bag at my local feed store for about 26.00.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely check the label before buying. My crew includes a 4 little ones and a German Shepherd so I would definitely be buying hopefully a bigger bag. 18# may last me a week! haha

I have three adult dogs here but buy two different kinds of Chicken Soup. My small Sheltie and the Pom eat adult. They are small so don't eat a whole lot. Their bag lasts a little over a month. My big Sheltie eats senior. His bag lasts approximately six weeks.

I would like to get them all on the adult variety but my big guy does not do well on it. He throws up even a small amount. We went through this again yesterday. If they all ate the same thing I'd definitely be buying a bigger bag too.

Riley ate the puppy version until he was 7 months. He did quite well on it, but I had wanted to go grain free, so switched to TOTW, then to NOW! Small breed.

It does get good reviews and is definitely at a good price.

FYI....Diamond foods which makes Chicken soup has put a stop on production. I'm still waiting to here more but it appears that the manufacturer experienced some salmonella issues with a food made at the same plant.

TOTW is also impacted by this. You should expect some shortages in your local pet stores on both products until this is sorted out.

Now would not be a could time to switch to Chicken Soup.

My TOTW used as an appetizer for Lucky, he loves the salmon. I feed Wellness, just because that is what they like and do well on it.

The TOTW is made by Diamond, the bag I just bought was made in Missouri, I checked with the corporate office just to make sure.

I even asked them if it was produced in South Carolina and shipped to Missouri for distribution for their clients. They said no. I believe if its sold in the stores the food would have been pulled by now if it wasn't right.

Its just not some employee dirty hands handling the food, clean up the equipment too. I am really sick of dogfood and human food being recalled.
Bagged lettuce just had a recall.
