Chronic tummy problems

So happy Deska is home with you!!! If he is in pain and does not have much time left, I would push for the meds. He might as well be comfortable. Unless they think it will make his condition worse? Maybe they can call a vet closer to you for the prescription, so you don't have to drive an hour?

I think that's a good idea. I'll give my regular vet a call, not exactly close but closer and maybe less stressful for Mr D.

CBD oil isn't available for animal use here - it's on prescription for humans only.

So incredibly glad he made it home to be with you. I'm rather shocked they wouldn't have given you anything for pain management. Enjoy every moment that you can, Caro, you will have absolutely no regrets. Sending loving thoughts your way.

Even the oil made from hemp? Still has all the benefits but no THC.

Tough question. I'm kinda not sure how he's going. He's very wobbly. We went out to my usual vet, I thought it would be less stressful. It took just as long to get there and then I found it was only the young vets on - who would not give any pain relief to take home except Tramadol! God help me I wanted to slap her. She gave him an injection - but I didn't want to knock him out during the day, and it won't last until evening anyway. On top of that she put him on the table and he started shaking so much. My usual vet gets on the floor with them when they are scared. So in the end we got nothing, except a suggestion for a low dose of Gabapentin, which didn't work for his arthritis so why would it work now. I'm at a loss what to do.

He also has very bad diarrhea and that's upsetting him. I went to buy some more a/d (high calorie prescription) and saw on the label it has turkey and chicken. I told the vet Specialist that turkey gives Deska explosive diarrhea. So no wonder he's got the runs. I went and brought some Royal Canin recovery diet from my Cat Vet nearby and that only has chicken in it, hopefully it will be better.

For dinner I boiled some beef and mixed in baby food vegetables and he ate the lot. So that's great, although I'll see how his tummy copes over the next hour. Interestingly, he won't eat 'hard' food anymore, just broths and soft - he seems to know what works. After the vet I took him to a cafe, he was doped up on the pain injection but seemed happy about being there. But I gave him bits of bacon and he wouldn't eat it. Was happy to have the a/d when we got home though.

My 2 problems. I'm having some issues with Tully. She's stealing Deska's food - that's hard because he needs time to eat and I can't hold Tully back and supervise him. Also, my health isn't too great atm. Getting a few infections, my tummy isn't too great, didn't sleep well last night with lots of cramps. I nap during the day but getting very weak.

Oh dear. Tully got into my bag while I was asleep and ate the bacon.
