Coat color and personality traits

OK - It is still well below zero here, my dogs are all asleep and I am getting cabin fever. I thought I would ask a question I have always wondered about. Is there any correlation between a sheltie's coat color and personality?

So far, I have had 2 blue merles and 2 sables. It seems to me that the blue merles are the most outgoing. They both love people. One of the blue merles (he passed away a couple of years ago) loved other dogs - the other loves his dog family, but other dogs, not so much. My 2 sables are much more standoffish. The older one (14) has always been very reserved. The younger one (2 years old)) is extremely shy. None of them has ever been aggressive.

Both blue merles and the older sable are males - the young sable is a female. All have been spayed or neutered. Gender probably has some effect on personality, but I wonder if coat color does? Curious to know what you all think.

I've always had sables and they've been super friendly and outgoing, love people. I hope to think that has a lot to do with how I raised them. Tully was timid as a youngster, but we worked hard and she got over it. Mr D was extremely friendly, like in your face friendly. He was a sable merle but his breeder does breed friendly dogs and he was hand reared. My other boys were also laid back and friendly (altho Benny hated some dogs but loved people). Tully is my only female.
