Cooled water fountain?

I've thought about one of the water fountains, that the links have been posted for, but Earnhardt needs something deeper,he makes a huge mess when he drinks,I am afraid I would be cleaning up more water than I do now,if it was inside the house.

They have 'big dog' versions of the water fountains as well, they might be more suited to Earnhardt.

Out of curiosity when did you name Earnhardt? My father had a beagle he named Forever Dale when Earnhardt died. Unfortunately Dale died 2 years later due to kidney failure from Lime Disease.

Interesting topic, how to keep cooled water cool while outside! This will be Megan's first summer and BOY it will be a duzy as we live in Houston with VERY hot and humid summers :dead:.

Earnhardt was born May 28th 2004. He was one of 7 lab pups born here. We are Nascar lovers, and the name came to me one afternoon, while we were watching a race,Earnhardt was about 3 weeks old.He was laying on the sofa with me,and all of a sudden I said "I got it..his name will be Earnhardt".

I did get a little flack from DH,as he has been a Jeff Gordon fan for some time.Of course I remain loyal to Earnhardt Jr.Although he is not fairing well again this year so far.

Thanks for the idea of the deeper water fountain.

Do you all call him by his full name or usually a nickname like Earnie, Earn, etc

Thanks all I can do the ice but well Sca is spoiled and I am blessed that my years of work has paid off and I am able to spend on him :biggrin2:. As to letting him stay in the house while I am at work :eek2: he would demolish the place. He likes to be out and playing. The neighbor reaches over the fence and pets him and Mom comes by and says hi sometimes (they are only a mile away). Maybe this is the incentive to build a sun room :confused2:

Well we were fortuneate that we did'nt have to bulid one.Our sunporch is huge.I am thinking there are 17 windows out there, all tiled. It was added on just prior to the previous owner passing away.

We do cool it in the summer up to a certain point in the summer,as it does get brutal for heat.Sometimes no amount of window units running will keep it cool enough.

Plus keeping the front door of the house opened so cooled air will go out there sometimes isn't enough either.I think it's because of all the glass out there.

For those looking for something to help keep water cool outdoors on in warmer parts of the house, I see these at agility trials for the dogs: http://www.igloo-store.com/product_detail.asp?T1=IGL+ELITE+1G&HDR=personbeverage. The handlers just take the lid off and instant dog bowl.

Because it's an Igloo cooler, it will help keep things cooler than a standard bowl if you put ice in it.

Downside... they are only available online, apparently.

I have one of these, purple of all colours! But I got it at Big Lots or Ocean State Job lots. Anyway, I fill it full and put in in the freezer, freeze, pop it out and store that one in a bag in the freezer and make another one. In the summer I have 5 or 6 ready in there all the time.

They really work great and travel well.

Looks like a regular old insulated water jug that would buy in the camping section of Walmart to me. Or am I missing something?
