Crate training. Help.

I'm now on my 3rd dog crate training and I've never had an issue

Number one....you have to be relaxed. If you feel anxious, the dog will sense it. Just be matter of fact. It's bed time, off you go.

The most I have ever had to do was toss a treat inside and close the door. Lucky me

if you wait till pup is truly ready for nap, then it's easier.

However, if your pup truly balks at it, then their is an entire process to teach your dog to love is crate.

I won't go into into now. I would like to hear your specific issues first. Can you expand in the problems you are having?

I guess it's not problems,
Do I take her out when she starts yelping? Do I go get her every few hours to take her out?

My boys weren't quite this young when I got them

Here's a few tips :

1) Give the happy crate experience.

Make the experience a happy one. Throw toys inside the crate for puppy to go in and out of it, feed meals in the crate etc.

2) When puppy naps – put him in the crate.

Puppies nap a lot, gently move puppy to the crate so he can learn that’s the best place to sleep.

3) Never, ever, open the door when pup is having a temper tantrum

Most dogs will complain the first time they find themselves in their crate with the door closed. If you know your dog does not need to go outside, and is barking and whining don’t open the door. Ignore them. Wait until they are quiet and then quickly open the door. You will find the temper tantrums will become short and then none at all. The minute having a fit gets you to open the door, your dogs behaviour has been positively reinforced. Next time the tantrum will be even longer and louder.

4) A stuffed Kong work wonders.

When crating as you are leaving the house try a Kong each and everytime you leave. It gives the pup and alternate choice. Do I have my yummy treat, or do I worry about being left. If you always end up leaving then the fuss will disipate and the yummy treat will win.

Yes, you cannot leave the dog in there at that age for more than an hour or two. Ideally tho you take her out BEFORE she starts whimpering.
I used to get up every three hours, and dog did not get crated while I was at work, I used an x-pen then... and ensured I got a puppy sitter who stopped to let the baby out, too
