DE doesn't kill mosquitoes, so if you're worried about heart worms, then you would need to use a separate product, yes.

The best way is probably not the way I do it. The best way is probably using one of those cranking things that the bug man use. I just put it in a cup and sprinkle it all over the yard. I put a thin layer over the grass but I'm not sure if that's the "correct" way. If it rains, you need to do it again.

if it's working for you, then it must be ok. I hear that we might be rain-free for a few days :wink2:

The best way to spread it is with a fertilizer spreader. DH has one that I grab when I'm feeling ambitious. For quick treatments, I use an empty coffee can that I've punched holes in.
