Distraction while using a high velocity dryer

Hello,

I have a 1 1/2 year old sheltie. He is not afraid of the dryer at all, if I am holding some treats in one hand he will happily try and get them while my other hand uses the high velocity dryer. If I am not feeding him he tries to bite the air coming out of the dryer.

I would like to move away from holding treats so I have both hands free. I was even thinking of trying to bracket a stuffed kong to the arm of the grooming table to keep him occupied while I dry him.

Does anyone have any good tricks?

My 6 year old doesn’t like the dryer so I use the neck and a haunch holder, this prevents him from turning around. Another option would be to use a lick mat...if your grooming table was facing a wall you could attach the mat at the dogs height and keep him busy with peanut butter while you dry him.
 
A licky mat is an option if you don't mind their head down, I use that or a plastic plate, quite often. There's a few options depending on what surface you are using to groom. If you are near a wall you can stick something on the wall, I've tied things to the back of a chair (like a yoghurt container). The latest on youtube is to put gladwrap on your head and then smear it with peanut butter, but I couldn't think of anything grosser! A grooming arm is really handy to hang things off, or a cat tree which is what I use - it's so funny watching the dog trying to catch a treat on a string.
