Do all shelties do these things?

Or is it just my Rambo?

1. To drink, he always lays on his stomach beside the bowl.

2. He insists on being on the arm of the couch or on the back across my shoulders instead of laying in my lap. (My son says he is a "parrot-dog")

3. He will flip over his food bowl and eat off the floor. I finally started feeding him in his crate in a bowl that is attached to the crate. I think it really ticks him off!

4. Will not pay any attention to me, unless I am busy with something and then he will push his nose under my hands and whine until I stop and pet him.:lol:
 
Welcome to the world of owning a Sheltie. They all do such wild and wierd things. My Liam thinks he is a cat, and his breeder assures me that all shelties think that.
 
I love Shelties and will probably always have one.

But there is no question that they develop the weirdest phobias!

Indy has suddenly decided that the wood bread board is EVIL!

Everytime I go near it Indy runs and hides until it safely on the counter. He got spooked one day when I dropped it near him once.

Bacca is currently going through some food phobia at the cottage (not at home).

Shelties can be skittish for sure. But their weird behavior is still worth it.
 
We don't have any of those phobias but Mikos does bark and hit me with his front paws if I get out the aluminum foil! He will run in from outside if he hears the sound of it unrolling!
 
Oh yeah... that sounds like a sheltie. Those are the things that make them so precious! Here's Lexi's favorite sleeping spot.....

1. My JRT mix Jazz did
2. My JRT mix Jazz did
3. My Lab Jo and Jazz did. None of my shelties but then it really doesn't stay in the bowl too long.
4. My JRT mix Jazz did, and so does Ember

Hum maybe Jazz was part sheltie and thats why I drawn to shelties or maybe JRT are also a quirky breed. Tend to think the later is true.
 
Zak does not like foil either.
Maggie used to run with I would rattle pots and pans as puppy and young dog.
Maggie and Katie used to rush me when I sneezed, guess they thought some thing evil was after me.
They do have odd quirks but we love them any way.
 
My old dog Casey used to nudge our hands all the time whenever she wanted to get pet, and she would always sit on the arm of the chairs too. And whenever we'd go on vacation, she'd jump in my parent's suitcase, and sleep on top of the pile of clothes in there, as if to tell us that she didn't want us to go. Right now our rescue, Cody my Dad likes to call him a poodle because he loves to jump up and sit in your lap. But he's a rather large sheltie, he's 18" tall, and about 33 pounds. Just like what someone else said earlier, all shelties aren't exactly the same but they all do have some kind of funny personality traits. :razz:
 
Kenzie developed a thing with grass... She waits until she really has to go before breaking down and going on the grass. Most of the time she times it just so the last little bit ends up on the patio.

When I throw the ball on the grass she bounces over the grass to minimize her exposure to it. It's funny to watch. Love that dog:wink2:
