Do Shelties have weak stomachs?

Just wondering since it seems a common topic. I realize that people with no issues don't post and could be the majority so I was wondering.

For the record Sca eats a bunch (2 cups a day) and doesn't seem to be getting fat and when I switched from the breeder's brand to Science Diet he just increased his eating with no real issues. Recently I switched to Innova Puppy and ran a bit to low on Science Diet so the mix was about 4 to 1 but he still did pretty good. One evening he had a couple of lethal puppy farts but otherwise didn't miss a beat. So I was curious is he the rule or an exception?

I'm sorry, but I just had a giggle moment when I read this. It may be the switch of food. But aren't they horrible!!!!:dead:

Oh dear, now you've probably cursed poor little Sca, who will begin hurling this very day.

Seriously, all of our Shelties have had really good stomachs except for little Pixie, and that's because of the case of Coccidia she had as a puppy. Puppyhood seems to be the time it rears its head if they're going to have gastro problems, and that's usually caused by things like worms. I think by and large, Shelties are pretty sturdy little dogs, despite what you read here!

My Shelties have all had really good stomachs. It is the Setters that get upset bellies over anything. But the Shelties......seemed to be handle everything.

I figured that maybe. Like I said why would people post up that their dog is doing great and fine... well except pictures and events and such. Oh and not sure on worms but Sca ate all the bugs that were anywhere near the back door long ago... except spiders he doesn't like them.

Stomachs of steel? I think its dog-specific, rather than breed specific. Some just do better than others.

And things we would expect to make this hurl, don't. And things we think they can tolerate, aren't.

I remember one Xmas, Timber got his jaws on some turkey. It was not alot, but enough. He had it coming out both ends for a full 24 hours after that. Yech!

Aztec has a very sensitive stomach. He can't really eat anything but his dog food and some treats.

Laika seems to be able to eat pretty much anything and not get sick - but she isn't a sheltie.
