Does anyone else's dog do this?

I am not sure if this is a sheltie thing, or if Ainsley is just a weird (oops, I mean eccentric) dog.

She walks when she goes potty. She will squat normally, but then will just walk along, still squatting, until she is done. Sometimes she covers several feet. She does this whether she is peeing or pooing. She does hump her back more when she poos.

She had done this ever since I have had her. It is not a medical problem; I checked with my vet.

Anyone else ever see a sheltie, or any dog for that matter, do this?
 
Hahaha oh yes. Our non-sheltie owning friends give us a really hard time for this. Bentley has crossed a huge field while pooping before. I thought it might just be a him thing, but our puppy Lexi does it too. She even does it when she's peeing sometimes!
 
When I was a teenager, my sister and I had a terrier mix. He used to walk all the way around the dining room table and leave a wet trail behind him. Good thing it was a wood floor.
 
Too funny

I call it Pierre's crab walk. He just... waddles about while going #2. At least he is still for his #1s.

The Shelties do not do this, though. Duncan does what I call "helicopter butt" where he spins his butt about him while he hunches his back. He stops in time to go, but he still taps one foot like he's impatient. Abbie paces and looks at you like, "Can't you give me some privacy?" I think that's a shelter thing, not a Sheltie thing.
 
Indy "travels" when he poos all the time. I think its the Sheltie's fastidious nature. By moving forward, he's less likely to get anything landing on his feet or stuck in his butt (the forward movement seems to jiggle it free!)

When he's done, he often goes for a little jog as well - I suspect to shake loose any leftovers. Indy's my pup with the major Sheltie pants, so I think this is his way of dealing with his "issues".
 
Sadie and Ginny both walk when they pee and poo. Ginny wouldn't even look for grass, she'd just go in the middle of the sidewalk while walking. Thankfully we've managed to train her to stop doing that.
 
ah yes, the pee walk and poo walk. thankfully the rescue people told me it was a sheltie thing when I adopted Callie- I would have worried otherwise. Cranman doesn't do it - yet :wink2:
 
Ember does this. Has since she was a small pup. She walk, cock and pull the left leg forward, then a few steps later change to the right leg and if still gpoing back to the left. She stays put for #2 though. :smile2: My Dear departed JRT mix did this too in addition she would hike her leg on vertical surfaces(outside) too or do hand stands to reach higher.
