Hi All..I am still doing research before getting a puppy.
I was looking at the various brands and the Taste of the Wild brand caught my eye. I was wondering if anyone uses it and what are your opinions about it. So far, just looking on the Net it seems to have good reviews.......I believe that I am going to switch my cats from Whiskas to the TOTW cat food. I like the higher meat content and the price is just about the same for the cat food and what I am readilly able to spend on pet food.
Thanks for looking at ANOTHER food question....LOL

Phebe is doing very well on TOTW, but I know that some are concerned about the high protein content in this brand. Phebe is a very active 8 month old. I don't think I would give it to a more sedentary dog, and certainly not a a large breed puppy.

I've got my boys on Grain Free, high protein, and with the exception of Bacca's other issues, they love and do well on this food.

Taste of the Wild has good recommendations, but check out Innova EVO, Horizon Legacy, Orijen, Acana as well.

I use Taste Of The Wild, and my dogs love it. I insisted on having a grain free food, so it was exactly what I was looking for. It also hasn't been involved in any of the pet food scares (says a lot to me anymore), and I'm happy with what I'm paying for it. It keeps all of my dogs in beautiful, healthy condition with good quality coats to boot. They also all really seem to like the taste of it, and are very easy to keep weight on with this food. Overall, it is a good high quality food.
I've been using this same food for around 2 years now :)

I feed my boys TOTW. I chose the salmon blend because the protein percentage is pretty much the same as any other puppy food. When Duncan is done growing, I will transition them to another flavor and rotate them. I have noticed consistent potties (I mix pumpkin, too, because puppies get into everything so it is mostly a preventative - if I forget for a day or two, no issues). Pierre was on another high quality food, so the coat difference is minimal, but at just over a year, his full adult (Papillon) coat is starting to come in and I love it. I am positive I will be happy with Duncan's when the time comes. Right now, he is still wearing his puppy sweater. It is good on their teeth and I've noticed that Pierre's are actually cleaner. As Duncan goes through teething, I will probably soften his food if he shows any tenderness with warm water. I think the stuff smells, but they really love it. It turned my picky-eating Pierre into a healthy eater (not quite chow hound unless I moisten it but that's just because he's a bit of a princess). Good luck!

And I get mine from a local shop. I went in and asked the store owner a few questions. He was very helpful with my decision and pointed out the protein. I would ask at your local store. And go with your gut - when going with a higher quality food, there is no real right or wrong.

How ironic! My groomer/Sheltie breeder just recommended TOTW for Wyatt! I started him off on Purina Pro Plan, and he has a little bit left of that. I will buy TOTW tomorrow to start mixing with Pro Plan so his digestive system can adjust. He turns 5 months next week!

II feed all my dogs TOTW. I have dogs ranging in age from 3 years to 13. Some have pretty serious medical issues and one has allergies to just about everything. This food has been great for my older, less active puppers and my high energy younger ones

Actually...this is the food I started switching my baby to, after the mess I just had with Natural Balance. So far so good. We will be 100%TOTW High Prairie by the beginning of next week (it has been a long transition period).

What's the protein level of TOTW? Just curious! Horizon Legacy is high at 40% but no issues with stools and water intake.
