Does puppy not like her new food?

I just needed some help determining if Precious doesn't like her new food or needs more time transitioning. I wanted to try a rotational diet and wanted to change her onto a lamb kibble diet from her Wellness. But so far with the whole 10%, 30%,75%, etc ratio.... Precious has now mastered picking out EVERY SINGLE wellness kibble and not touching her other diet. How will I know if this is because she doesn't like lamb or she just doesn't want to try new food? Any tips to make this easier? Precious doesn't seem to have eaten any of the lamb kibble AT ALL so far, it's been a week.

How much are you feeding her?

I wonder if you are feeding her too much, so she has the option to be choosy. Bentley would be picky about his food until we cut it back, and started picking it up after a few minutes. He learned quickly to eat what we gave him.

By now its 75 % new food and she's still able to find it all. So i dont think I let her be choosey. I don't leave her bowls on the ground for long periods of time either so she kows she doesnt have a lot of time to eat/to be picky yet she still is.

Ah! I didn't want to wait for a response and decided to try Pacific Stream TOTW (that I picked up for 10 dollars at a pet event for half price, chose this because it apparently has great reviews from other sheltie users :D) and ........ wow viola, though she still preferred her Wellness, she FINISHED the TOTW diet soon after without much coaxing! SHE REALLY MUST HATE LAMB... When I give the other one she wouldn't even look at it, smell it, keep it in her mouth for longer than a second and spit it out. Atleast the salmon TOTW she chewed a bit before preferring the Wellness...... NOW... I don't know what to do with my bag of lamb :P:P Atleast I know my pup now doesnt like lamb but likes salmon :P

I am glad that you found another food that she likes.

If you are looking for another brand/kind, try Summit Canadian chicken. Emma and Liam liked the TOTW, but they are absolutely crazy about Summit. Emma never barked for her meals. Now she and Liam take turns barking at me to hurry up and feed them - it backfires - the more they bark the longer it takes as I stop moving when they bark.

Interestingly, Summit, Wellness, and Go are made in Ontario with as much outsourcing from local producers as possible. I was impressed when I saw the made in Ontario sign by the food when I was in Pet Valu picking up the food yesterday.

We too, are trying to switch to another brand (my wife got an idea that holistic food is good). I am mixing little bit (25% + 75%) at this time. Sometimes she'll finish the bowl. Sometimes she will nibble a few bites and stop.

Can I make her hungry enough (I won't use starve - ppl get upset for choice of words) so she'll have to eat whatever I pour into her bowl? I think this will work for the dog, but will there be problems later on, if I do this?

With my kids, this worked the best. Play with them rough (so they are tired and hungry) and switch the food - they'll eat anything. These days, we all should feed ourselves a lot less, but with good food. Stuffing ourselves with cheap stuff does no good to nobody.
