Don't throw away your trimmings

furever keepsake

Hi,
When you brush your sheltie you have a lot of fur coming out!! Take advantage of that and keep it to have a keepsake made out of it. Trimmings could work to if they are long enough.

Yep, that is what I have done and they love it! Keeps those little baby birds warm and toasty!

My sister had a Samoyed and kept all his fur, she had it spun into yarn and knit into the most wonderful blanket. She has a unique blanket, and when he passed at 15, she had some of him with her forever.

Wow how sweet is that!! I knew that samoyed were a good breed for that. What a wonderful keepsake....! I do create keepsakes too but with felting techniques. Here is an example:

I recently got a ton of really soft fur from Mango when I brushed her right after a bath, and looked up felting. I found these pretty necklaces that use balls of the felted fur as beads. I kept the fur with the intention of doing something like that...eventually.

I really need to save some of Honey's hair for the same.
