Dryer Sheets!

My youngest Sheltie, almost 6, shredded a dryer sheet yesterday. I am extremely anal about throwing them out in a garbage pail either inside a cabinet or into a pail w/ a lid that the dogs can't open b/c I have heard that the chemicals on dryer sheets can be toxic and fatal if ingested. So I cannot imagine where he found one! He cannot reach the box n the laundry room and never even goes in there. He shredded the dryer sheet, as he does w/ tissues. I assume it was tissue-like enough for him to make him happy to shred it....I found what I believe to be most of the dryer sheet, at least 90% of it if not more, and last night he sneezed a few times and drank a bit of extra water. He has been pooping/eating/playing just fine. But I worry about anything he might have ingested...Anyone deal with this?

My Ruffles is a dryer sheet addict...the used ones...fortunately, she's never gotten a fresh one. Sometimes they stick to the clothes or fall out and we don't see them, and she's all over them. She shreds them too...doesn't eat them as far as I've been able to tell. I'm careful about them but sometimes we still find bits around the house. She's been fine, so if the sheet your pup got was used I think you'll be OK.

Ruffles also grabs the hibiscus and hydrangea leaves and flowers in the garden whenever I take my eyes off her for a second and they're toxic too. Either she has an iron stomach or I'm very lucky! :hide

Thanks! This one seemed unused, still had a bit of the powder on it. I cannot figure out how he got it!! He's acting just fine, and I am guessing we'd know by now if there was an issue....Still, it bugs me!

I grabbed a used dryer sheet away from Lacey this afternoon. She was not happy with me.
