Drying question - probably silly

When you dry your Sheltie, (1.) Are you using a forced air dryer? (2.) Do you dry with or against coat growth? As some of you may know, I have show Persians. When I groom them I blow dry after the bath. I use a forced air dryer to blow against the hair growth to fluff them up and to keep the coat straight.

I have never been able to blow dry my girls, they bolt at the sound of the hair dryer. The closest I have been able to get to would be the oscillating heater...it is quiet and they would stand near that, and I always just brushed them regularly. No need to fluff up my fur packed babies, ha...
 
Not silly at all. I have a Conair blow dryer, with all kinds of setting.
Low, medium and high heat.
Low medium on the dryer part too.

I use the low heat, some of the blow dryers get really hot.

Not a silly question. I woukd think it would be similar. I live where pretty warm so we air dry until damp and then brush. Show people sometimes blow dry. The hair dryer would have been too much fun for my guy.

If I used a Conair dryer I would be drying until next week! My Nick has SO MUCH COAT! I wish my Persians had half as much as he does. The 3 dryers I have are all professional pet dryers. Only the Oster has heat, the others are just forced air which blows the water out of the coat. I was just wondering about blowing against the coat because he looks like a walking hairball now, can't imagine what he would look like if I did that.

My Lady has a lots of coat too, but all works fine. Blow dry and brush at the
same time just like you would do your own hair. There are grooming sprays
also to tame the hair. I use them on my shelties.

Its good to leave the hair a bit damp so the hairs don't break off.
