Edan Earned His TDAA TACH2 on June 9th!

WE DID IT! Eight moths after earning our first TACH (Teacup Agility Champion) Edan and I completed our TACH2!

To earn the TACH2 you need 15 qualifying Standard runs and 15 qualifying Games runs. When you have 4-5 standard and games runs per trial and you are running a trial every month to get ready for the Petit Prix (TDAA Nationals) it can happy pretty quickly.

The attached picture is from my cell phone. I have a better picture of me, Edan, and the judge but it's still on my camera. I'm hoping to pull that off tomorrow and finish editing all the video from the past weekend.

What an unteresting game. Ember would be in heaven and hell. Yeah a tunnel, boo a contact , yeah a tunnel, argh a contact. Though she may not hate that teeter.

It was an interesting game. (For those interested, the description of the game is in the 'Description' field of the video.) Definitely a handling focused game because, like Tunnelers or Jumpers you can't run around going "tunnel", "tunnel", etc. because of all the tunnels. There were about 5 different traps on that course. I think I mentioned in the video description that I ran this course very conservatively knowing a Q = TACH2; in fact most of my Saturday runs were on the conservative side for that reason. I was definitely more aggressive on Sunday.

What makes the speed of this TACH surprising to me is that most of the games I had to run were ones I never played before. In some ways I dislike that TDAA trials can use any game included in the Clean Run Book of Agility Games instead of a fixed set like USDAA or CPE. But, on the flip side, the different games really test different skills and abilities of the team which can open your eyes to other training possibilities. *shrug* It's a trade off, really.

So, I take it you're trying to get to the Petit Prix? When will you know if you have qualified? Or did you already qualify? How exciting.

Congrats again to you two. Great job! And I agree, Edan definitely looks pleased with himself.

We are actually already qualified. Honestly, it doesn't take much to qualify for the Petit Prix; it's open to any TDAA registered dog who competes in at least 1 trial in the calendar year. So, even beginner dogs can attend but all courses are Superior/Games 3 difficulty & rules.

The top 40 dogs of the Friday and Saturday competition out of the 200 maximum dogs that can enter get to run for the Petit Prix Champion title on the Sunday of the event. (All dogs get to run but the top 40 are singled out from the rest.)
 
Ah, okay. So it's kinda like USDAA where you don't have to be ultra great to qualify, which is nice for us beginners. CAn't wait to hear all about it. Are you one of the top 40?
