This just started - yuck! COLD day here today. Yesterday pulled all the remaining carrots, yellow beets, lettuce and jalapenos (32! from 3 little plants that grew since I pulled them all for pickled jalapenos - yummy!).

The boys have been going crazy by our wood shed and I have suspected a predator around our chicken coop (my covid project - don't think I posted pics - Brodie LOVES his chickens!) but have not seen any signs of a break in attempt. I went out last night to check on the girls, motion detector lights were off cuz hubby flipped the wrong switch in our bedroom so I went back in for a flashlight. I am walking between our woodshed and equipment shed and feel something at my left ankle. I assumed hubby dropped a peice of wood when he went out to get a box for a fire, but nope - a RACCOON had grabbed my ankle. Not sure if I startled it or stepped on it or what. It stayed about 5 feet away from me cuddled into the equipment shed but too big to scuttle under. I screamed - no one heard me (not even the dogs and I'm NOT a quiet person at all). I went back in, hubby came out and we set a trap up with marshmallows - they love them and have a hard time resisting. He walked away, trap went off, darn raccoon flipped the trap and took the marshmallows - stayed near the shed, not fearful of hubby either. Hubby tossed the whole bag in the trap and reset it. Walks away, gets not even to the front of the equipment shed and the trap goes off again. This is our 2nd raccoon trapped this year. Thank goodness I had heavy boots on and not sneakers or I would have been at the hospital for potential rabies exposure.

Yikes...that would've scared the bejesus out of me! I am not a brave person in the dark lol! We've had snow for almost 2 weeks now and coldddd! We're supposed to have a heat wave next week (this snow is way too early and temperatures are way below normal) so our snow may melt for a few days lol.
Bet that's one happy raccoon....full up on marshmallows! Hopefully no more visitors!

Cute!

No raccoons here but lately lots of coyotes and a few wolves...they scare me! Thing is they've recently been around well developed areas. Unfortunately developers keep building out more and more into their habitats...
Think I'd rather have raccoons lol.

Ugh....the coyotes scare me. We had one around here last year. We have goats so I’m always so nervous they are going to get attacked by a coyote.
