Excessive licking of feet (?!)

Recently Rico has had this "habit" of licking feet incessantly while we eat. We try to get him to stop by pushing him away, but he never fails to keep coming back!!!! But he did learn his lesson when a guest of mine accidentally hit his mouth with his foot while lifting it up. It stopped for a day or two, but afterwards he just went on doing it (grr)!!! Is there anyway to stop him from licking and licking his days away (other than hitting him of course, I have no intention of doing that at all!)?

We just got our puppy and he does the same thing. He loves socks..will literally take off with them. Loves licking feet and playing with socks while they are on our feet. I am trying to get him to stop..So, I will be referring back to this post if it gets any replies lol

Can you distract him with something better--like a bone? I would correct him (I use "unh-unh") and then redirect him to a toy or a chewy bone or something so he knows what he CAN lick.

Two questions:
Does he eat before your meal or after?

Does he exhibit this behavior at other times like when you are watching TV?

My advise is to give him something special when you are eating. Put a towel or blanket on the floor away from the table area and have him lay down on the blanket then give him a frozen kong filled with plain yogurt. This will keep his attention for a long time. When you are finished with your meal and everyone is up from the table the Kong goes away.. He only gets it when you are sitting at table eating.

how about you crate him or tether while you eat? Or sit on the floor with your feet under you?
anyway- you don't like this behavior, don't let it happen...

@Sunchaser: He eats his dinner before us, though we are planning to let him eat while we have our dinner now. He does so when we watch the Telly too! I'll try the kong thing, I have a feeling it'll keep him entertained for a long long long time xD

@SheltieChe: We put him in the crate usually, but he gets out as soon as someone finishes his/her meal- and then sometimes he brings his toy along and settles himself under our feet and keeps himself entertained, or he just licks on and on. And if we don't let him, he targets his own feet :dead: Weird boy we have!!
