I think my neighbors might think I was killing my dogs. I was taking my clippers and clipping the hair out of the paws and my boys wre going nuts. What babies.Does anyone else clip the hair out of the feet?
 
I use a short handled round tip scissor.I have a really cool,very narrow clipper,but I don't know if I could use them,never tried.

Trapp is a piece of cake to do.He stands quite well on the grooming table.I do Jaspers,just a bit to get him used to having it done,while he's very relaxed or sleeping soundly.He never moves.

We do Earnhardt that way with scissors to.I really like the look of well taken care of feet,it just looks so good when they are done.

I sure would like some tips on ears.I think Trapp needs some trimmimg done,but I have no clue,where or what to do. They are thick & fuzzy.
 
I do! I trim the hair around Bailey's feet, inbetween the pads, ears and shave her a poop chute.

The last few times I've done it, Bailey has tolerated it very well. I have a little grooming table I put her on and she stays calms. Although, she does try to sit when I'm shaving her poop chute.

I like to keep her feet looking nice and tidy. Makes her look so much cleaner.

Yep! I scissor them most often, but if I plan on taking Bella to train at this one indoor facility with horse stall mats I shave them. It gives her much better grip when running agility on slippery surfaces.

I guess your boys don't agree. Gotta wonder what the neighbor's reaction would be if they asked what was going on and you told her you were shaving your dog's feet. :lol: We dog-people are weird!
 
I cut Ember's feet hair all the time! She's great about letting me, but I started when she was a puppy. The only thing she's bad about, is taking a bath! She HATES baths!!!! Maybe it's because I don't bath her. I brush, comb, clip, trim, cut nails, and dry. My hubby washes. :winkgrin:
 
They are babies.They see me grab nail clippers or a brush and they are saying See Ya Later Alligator.I always keep the hair clipped out of the paws for better grip.Have you ever run on Max Trax Dogismymantra?
 
I have little tiny shaver I use on Megan's feet, she doesn't like it, but she deals with it. Some very smart person here told me to keep the fur around her pads as trimmed as possible for gripping purposes on our solid flooring :yes:
 
I trim the hair around Nike's feet and around the pads as well. He's a champ with the Dremel too. Nike's a DREAM pedicure dog, just lays on his back until I'm finished. :smile2:
 
Trimming the feet really helped Callie- she slipped a lot on the laminate floor when she first came. no problems now :wink2:

Mine do the same - nail clippers come out and they run off and hide! ATM Deska's feet hair is growing at an alarming rate so I have to trim 2-3 times a week! I'm hoping this is just because his winter coat is growing in, if I didnt trim them his feet would be lost under all that fur. Tully doesnt get as much fur on her feet so I maybe do hers once a month.

We are heading into winter (frosts already) and the ground gets really slippery when its covered in moisture or ice (we dont have indoor facilities). But its worse when the equipment gets slippery - so many falls off contacts in winter. Although at a recent agility trial some people were debating if it gives them better grip with fur on their pads. Not sure about that.
